No I just think it creates a new imbalance that doesn’t enhance the game. All about it being fixed etc. just not at the cost of more passing plays being put on the “do not use “ list.

Way to try and put words in my mouth though.

I’ve run teams using people in position and out. At the end of the day none of players whether out of position or not lack the skills to play their position.

I will play either way. You have no idea honestly because you reserve the right to observe rather than interact with the other 80% of the game.

What don't I interact with exactly?

If by exploit...you mean using plays, formations & personal that optimize the results...then yes!!!

Typically, the owners that cry "exploit" lose in competitive leagues and retreat to half empty leagues where they can compete against less competitive owners or they just join roster only leagues.

Attacking owners who find the best way to attack opponents using ALL the tools available to them is ridiculous.

There is no moral or ethical imperative that compels owners to use only TEs at TE or only LBers at LB, etc etc. That is your own choice and it's a lazy argument for why you can't compete in highly competitive leagues.

Finding the best way to use your roster to win is the game!!! None of us write the code but we all have the same tools available to us!!!!

In highly competitive leagues, simply using a WR at TE won't make you a winner because EVERYONE is keenly aware of it which leads to digging deeper and finding other competitive edges which is what every football coach everywhere is always attempting to do.

Anyone who wants to test that theory...come join the XFL and see for yourself....we put no restrictions on any owners and it makes for the highest level of competition in MFN!!

I have 1 open team which is enough to tell you how successful the XFL actual is. Only the USFL is completely full and the XFL was full until a recent departure. It's season 34 and we are always full or near full because of the competitive nature of the league.

Isn't that the point? Full leagues with high competition with no A.I. teams and no easy wins on the schedule and no artificial mandates to limit what owners can do. It's not my job to fix the code but everything JDB changes the code, we adapt and find the best way to win.

I'm really tired of the "exploit" crowd who talk like they are morally superior to anyone that uses overrides in a game which JDB put into the game for everyone to us as they see fit.

If you want to complain about the code....complain to JDB!!! He is the one who broke the passing game and we figured out the best way to bring passing back to "normal" levels with the broken plays we all have access too.

Roster Only leagues are proof how bad the passing game is under the code using all the broken plays and the "exploiters" as you call them have turned chicken s#/+ into chicken salad!!!!

If you want to "play the game the right way" then enjoy passing for 2500 yards a season and having zero 1000 yard receivers!!!!

That's not enjoyable to a ton of owners and the numbers support the leagues where competition is highest being the fullest leagues.

I play both types, and pretty much all subtypes outside no trading and won a lot of championships across the board. Last I checked the whole point of this thread was to complain about things that should be fixed....

It is but the condescending remarks about "using exploits" stinks of some sort of "I'm superior because I don't cheat" vibe and it's the same old argument.

The game/code is broken....JDB is well aware of the issues and gas been for years yet he doesn't fix them.

I'm a league administrator and I've run leagues that run the whole gamet of different ways and here's the ultimate problem....I don't want to work at playing a game so custom rules become a burden and still people cheat.

Let me tell you a story and why I am completely opposed to any type of league rules where it comes to positions or weights.

About 20 seasons ago in the XFL, We were using version 4.5 and only had 1 simple rule....the punt block exploit!!!

The league was full and nobody has violated the rule in many seasons then Grandadb joined the league and quickly turned his team into a contender. He made the postseason and advanced to the Conference Championship game which he won in thrilling fashion 63-56 over longtime owner Wolveraider.

The problem was Grandadb blocked several punts and a quick dive into the game clearly showed he used 90+ speed DBs & WRs as his ST Rushers which clearly violated the long standing rule!!!

So as admin what choice do I have???
Ask JDB to roll back the sim which punishes the winner of the other Conference? Boot the owner which doesn't help the team that lost? In the end the XFL has 1 team in 34 seasons that won a Title without an owner!!!!

I created the General Manager leagues and instituted the strictest positional rules ever and I did 32 team compliance checks after every single game and PMed owners that were in violation and even with all that....owners still broke the rules. I don't get paid to admin leagues and it became a job to check 32 teams every other day to make sure they followed all the rules. It became work!!!!

The simplest solution for everyone is to have no rules and anything allowed by the sim is allowed....it's impossible to cheat and in fact creates innovation among owners as they try to find an edge.

JDB created MFN and it's his responsibility to fix the issues. He has been aware of those issues for 2 years and he chose to work on the UI. I doubt even 5% of owners, if polled would have chosen the UI as the priority to address and those 5% that would say the UI first was the best strategy would probably reconsider if they knew it was a 24 month process.

EVERYONE WANTS THE GAME TO GET FIXED!!!! But sitting on a high horse while playing roster only and talking to owners who chose to get the most out of their teams in a broken system fixes absolutely nothing!!!

MFN is great because of all the control an owner has over his team for player weights, roster construction, depth charts, overrides and all the gameplanning choices. Improving the game doesn't happen by taking away owners control....it improves by fixing the real issues while keeping all the owners control.

In the last 5 years....MFN-1 folded along with bleeding beta and no changes were made to the code except we went from 4.5 to 4.6 plus 2 plays were removed...that's it!!!!

The physics of the game needs to be completely overhauled so a players height & weight matter instead of just speed! Fix that and TEs matter again along with LBers. I hope it happens soon but until it does then I will continue to get the most out of my roster based on the current game physics. Plain & simple!

As I mentioned before and is an easy check, I play more than RO which you seem to think is inferior when it's just as challenging if not more so in a different way. And those exploits, I use them too. It's part of the game. It's an exploit, it's not bad that you are using it and I never even insinuated it was. If you think me calling out exploits is talking down on you, that's just your own guilt talking. Taking advantage of those exploits is part of the game. The purpose of this thread is to address and close those exploits. There's nothing more beyond that.

Pernbronze, congrats on your Anything Goes RO championship

its a fun league. join. https://agro.myfootballnow.com/forums/1/81?page=1#159

league could be called "Breaking MFN RO"...injuries are set to max and there are no position restrictions minus mandatory P & K

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
gentleman, may i interject with my philosophy?........thank you

spirit of competition in MFN is high. we all have a story on how we ended up in MFN but i imagine most are here in an attempt to win

i remember discovering MFN while looking for a sports sim after growing tired of simulating Madden over and over again and being disgusting with former 76ers GM Sam Heinkes zagging.......i believed i could be a great GM......but no NBA or NFL teams called my office..........so i stumbled into online sims

basketball sims were a little too basic for my liking.....football teams have more appeal with 5x the roster slots. i enjoy the team building aspect of MFN and the ability to make it un NFL......the leagues i admin have custom names and logos to create an alternate universe feel

anywhooooo.....philosophy.......MFN is what it is. like many things.....if you allow it to become perfect then it becomes perfect. MFN is no more than an online footbal simulator entirely created by one man (?) with a vision and the dedication to create such a thing.....its kind of amazing......an enormous project for one person

MFNs current "imperfections" are here for us all to see.........any advantages or exploits one may discover which can boost their chance of victory should be utilized....that is at the core of the spirit of competition and basically defines a primary responsibilty of coaching

MFN would reach full potential if active members alligned more.........we are all on the same team......a bunch of nerds drawn to an interesting football simulator that some even bigger nerd made.......yet aggresion is plentiful....a result of passion i take.....which is great........good to see that people want the game to improve.......but it is sensible to be realistic......... this game isnt going much farther with just one guy behind the buttons

maybe create a kickstarter to get more programmers involved? i wonder what the price tag on MFN is or what the cost of hiring programmers would be. or maybe AI could make it better?

thank you for your time....... happy 4th to those in the USA! USA ! USA!

ps i only interject within these public forums when i sense a negative vibe. id probably be better off avoiding such but ive been playing for a while and feel it is good to be involved with the "community" in an attempt to promote positivity
